General Market: Conflict in the Middle East is taking 1st, 2nd and 3rd position to the market. America is committed to a successful outcome – nationwide and for the benefit of many.
Employment: A quiet month. No new shocks in the labor indices. What is important, is the current challenges within the reporting methodologies still in place. We will continue to seek reportable numbers. In this, these truest numbers, all suffer a 6 month lag effect.
Residential Lending: Market are digesting events. Oil up, which is inflationary, but this due to speculation, Loyds of London, and Iran. If short term, the broad range effects will be minimal, with pump prices the most effected. To this, we will keep a close eye on ongoing news, headlines, and relevant data.
Inflation: New Update: Recent Fed’s meeting underscores their prioritizing inflation. Their concerns are tariffs, Iran, and oil impacts on consumers. Tariffs fears have not materialized. Further, prices did not drop after Supreme Court halted Trump tariffs. Until the new Fed Chief it will remain part of their conversation. Note: Both EU and Japan may raise benchmark rates – oil supply / prices. Side note: Bit confusing, as both countries are flat, relative to our own.
The Good, the Bad, And the Ugly
The Good: News that sounds like a futuristic movie: Robot dogs will be patrolling World Cup sites in Guadalupe, Mexico. The “dogs,” which are operator-controlled and unarmed (yay), can issue warning, instructions, and alerts to law-enforcement – if something suspicious requires more focused attention. Wired
The Bad: Over -the-top construction regulations: Fire sprinklers for everything, including concrete construction.! No more gas appliances in the Bay Area, all electric, which for many includes upgrading service entrance and whole house rewires. Padding a few industries and not providing benefit. Just more cost. Sigh.
And, the Ugly: Some technology needs to be improved to be useful. Consider: Lithium Ion batteries don’t do well in moist salty air. Consider: The biggest lithium battery pack in CA is located at Moss Landing. Suffice to say, more than half a dozen toxic fires has the local fire department on a “let it burn down” stance due to toxicity of the smoke. Risks: Sending toxins into the atmosphere letting the wind spread it over adjacent ag land. Worse: they repeat the experiment instead of changing out and updating to better storage solutions. Where are the, Save the Earth” advocates ?
